Comparison

How much commission does Patreon actually take?

The rate depends on when you joined Patreon — here are the exact, sourced figures.

Since August 4, 2025, every new creator joining Patreon is automatically placed on the “Standard” plan, which takes a 10% commission on payments received. Creators who were already on the platform before that date remain on their previous (“legacy”) plan, whose commission is 5%, 8%, or 11% depending on the tier chosen at signup.

On top of that, both plan types are also charged payment processing fees — which vary by country and the payer’s payment method — plus, where applicable, a 2.5% currency conversion fee when the payment currency differs from the creator’s payout currency.

  • Standard plan (since Aug 4, 2025): 10% platform commission
  • Legacy plans (earlier creators): 5%, 8%, or 11% depending on the plan
  • Payment processing fees: additional, variable
  • Currency conversion: 2.5% if applicable
